Low Income Housing Tax Credits & Cost Containment in Utah, 2016

Utah’s 2016 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) awards points based for cost containment and efficient use of credits.

Utah’s 2016 QAP awards up to 100 points for projects that encourage the efficient use of the housing credit. To qualify for credits, each project’s costs will be calculated at four levels: hard costs per unit, hard costs per net residential square footage, total development costs per unit, and total development costs per net residential square footage.

Additionally, Utah’s 2016 QAP utilizes the ratio of Housing Credits requested per Net Residential Square Foot (NRSF) of Housing Credit units as a tie-breaker for projects with identical application scores.
